This is a great week to push your pay-per-click campaigns. Typically the end of the month is when I get my best results with PPC. The reason for the bump in results is that most advertisers set their accounts to replenish at the beginning of each month. Many accounts go offline the last few days of the month because their funds have been depleted. If you manage your account well and keep your account online through the whole month, you can benefit from the decrease in keyword competition. The ends of March, June, September, and December are even better than most months; these are end of the quarter months. Companies are trying to make their books look good, so they pull marketing dollars and use them for a late sales push. The bottom line is that a lot of accounts go offline. Less competition drives the cost per click down.

The competition to claim your marketing dollars must be really fierce now between the major players of pay-per-click search services. Overture, Findwhat, and Google Adwords have all redesigned their keyword placement interfaces and added enhancements to their services over the past couple of months. The most exciting changes have been the new features Google added. I loved Google because of its simplicity, but I thought it was lacking in features compared to Overture. Well, Google has definitely closed the gap with its lastest enhancements, yet it manages to mantain its simplicity. If you are a novice at PPC marketing, Google is definitely the place to start.

I also read a great article on optimizing search engine campaigns. It reinforces everything I've been telling people about how to be successful at pay-per-click search engine marketing. I have a couple of interesting links about blogs that I want to share. In case you haven't heard, Google recently bought Pyra Labs. Pyra Labs is the group that created blogger.com and blogspot.com. The bottom line is that having a blog on your web site is going to have a positive effect on your Google ranking.

Here is a link about why Google bought Blogger.com: http://www.webpronews.com/wpn-8-20030225WhyGoogleBoughtBloggercom.html.

In case anyone might be wondering why their business web site needs a blog, this article from webpronews has some answers: http://www.webpronews.com/wpn-3-20030307BlogYourBusiness.html.
